Hello folks! Jonathan, Seafarer One here. How's your day been? Caught any Marlins?
Anyway, to follow up on Ola's post, I thought I would write something about what I remember best from this wonderful reading experience. What did I like, and what did I not like?
First off, my overall evaluation of "The Old Man and the Sea" is very good indeed. The story has it all: Excitement, tension, love, pride, and even a little bit of blood-soaking action. I do not feel as Ola did, that it went a little bit slow at times. Well, I have to agree that it didn't really happen a whole lot, but I was nailed throughout the three hours it took me to read it.
The part I remember the best must be the time between the victory over the fish, and the return to the village. You see, it proves quite a challenge for the old man to get back with the Marlin in one piece, because of all the sharks attacking. At this point, I was totally sucked up in the excitement, and I also was convinced that the old man would be killed and eaten. I was prepared for this, though, and it seemed to me an enormous anti-climax when the old man actually ended up making it. So, if you ever read this book, be prepared for that, or you'll be dissapointed.
Well, I think that's most of what I have to say. For now, anyway. Keep your boats circling, and come by in a day or two for exciting updates!
Cya, mateys!
I love all the sea jokes. So dry yet also kind of funny. Well written. :)
